About European Voluntary Service in Lilleoru:
Lilleoru is a non-formal adult education centre and intentional eco-community in Aruvalla village close to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The vision of Lilleoru is to create learning and living environment that is dedicated towards offering possibilities for conscious development and sustainable lifestyle of human beings. The educational basis here is The Art of Conscious Change that is developed by Lilleoru’s founder and kriya yoga teacher Ingvar Villido.
Lilleoru being a unique place for deepened yogic studies, every year hundreds of people from Estonia and abroad visit the center. Lilleoru organizes numerous courses, work-parties and other events at their premises regularly. In addition there are herbal gardens with tea production, permaculture vegetable gardens, small honey production and shop at Lilleoru.
Until 2018 the community is busy building a new community center, the School of Practical Awareness that will be also the heart and the centre of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN Europe) 2018 conference “The Wisdom of Conscious Communities”.
In 2017 Lilleoru is joining with the European Voluntary Service and will start hosting long-term volunteers. We are looking for an enthusiastic person interested in natural building, event management or organic food production and preparation. Depending on volunteer's interests we are offering different opportunities for co-creation.
The first option is to support the building of the new house for the School of Practical Awareness, a largest reed/straw-bale building in Estonia. The community has been busy building this new community centre and school for past few years. It is being built with the help of volunteers and will include learning possibilities for adults, children and youth and is the largest building made of reed-bales in Estonia, and the first public building of that kind in the world. Many natural building techniques have been used erecting this building. In late 2017, early 2018 we will be busy with clay-plastering, painting and other works to finish the building.
Second option for volunteering is to contribute to the creation of the Global Ecovillage Network conference in July 2018. This will be a major event with 500 participants. The third opportunity is to learn about vegetarian cooking and organic food growing.
Last but not least - Lilleoru is a perfect environment for somebody interested in personal development and conscious living.
Lilleoru is situated in Estonian countryside where you can experience the beauty of changing seasons. It is 25 km from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, where one could also get in contact with the urban life.
