Ingvar Villido Ishwarananda: “Time and timelessness”

We use clocks and calendars to measure time, but in reality time is our inner relationship to the flow of events. The sense of time is created by the past, which is stored in memory, and the future, which is a projection based on memory. In between, there is only ever the present moment – the only place where we can act.

According to the teachings of the Siddhas, our True Self and consciousness are unaffected by this flow. Our timeless Self is the true center of all temporal activities – regardless of whether we are aware of it or not. Time and timelessness are not opposites, but two parts of the same whole: memory creates a sequence of events and offers the possibility to achieve something, timelessness gives strength and clarity to guide it.

Timelessness does not mean forgetting deadlines, but acting in such a way that time does not dominate you. It transforms rushing into consciously going with the flow.  Then you will realize:  in timelessness, there is an infinite amount of time.

In the October episode of the Path of Wisdom series, we will be exploring:

  • How do the temporal and the timeless complement each other?
  • How can we experience the moment in which there is no time?
  • How can we utilise the sense of time in practice and in everyday life?

Ingvar Villido has been following the path of Siddha Yoga for over 30 years. In the Path of Wisdom series, he shares practical and in-depth knowledge that bring spiritual clarity into everyday life.
