Ingvar Villido Ishwarananda: “The Touch of Sound”

Why does the sound of water seem soothing, or the rustling of the forest invigorating? Why does the singing of birds sound like music to our ears, or a piece of music moves our soul? Why do sounds have this ability to touch? What makes such an effect possible? Why is it said that “silence is the highest form of sound” or that silence is the most beautiful sound?

The ancient sages, in deep meditation, discovered the natural sounds – mantras. What are mantras and why is it said in yoga that mantras are both sound and technique.

In the November “Path of Wisdom lecture” we will dive into the world of sound. We will explore the phenomenon of sound and its effect on the surroundings. We will find out why OM is called the primordial sound, what connection it has to yoga and at the same time to our practical life.

„Sound travels through all dimensions, up to God.“ Ishwarananda
